Jealousy is a Lousy Prospective

Jealousy…

The word has been popping in my head all week. One of my friends tweeted about it. It’s easy to start showing jealousy of things you do not have. But when you lose what you do have, prospective sets in and you tend to gain more humbleness.

Thou shalt not covet. Most of the time we think of a car or house. But, it’s deeper than that. We wish we were a mom. That we had the job with the corner office window and 6 figure salary. We wish we were a super model. Wanting freedom to travel like our friend has! We want what we don’t have, and think the grass is greener on the other side because of prospective.

I had a friend that travels the world! Anytime I turn around they are posting a new Instagram pic of the latest excursion. Mt Michu Pichu or the cathedrals of Italy, i see these fascinating photos posted and think why can’t that be my life.

I then question my own life.

The jealously of the freedom overwhelms me. I think of the independence they have and the alone time they get. I get so jealous on my lunch break and wish that was my life.

Well a few weeks later, I see my friends post about their job. They lost their job, complain about retail, complain about pay, or not getting enough hours. They can’t pay their rent…. etc.

I come home at the end of my long 10 hr day, take off my heels, and have two little ones running and giving me big hugs around my waste and legs. My house is piled from laundry, dishes left over from dinner, and yet I push it to the side to read to the girls, tell them good night, and enjoy time with my husband.
