To my Dad
You were always the one who taught me to be strong. Hold back the tears and carry on.
You taught me to be happy with the way God made me. I was beautiful no matter the way my hair looked, my weight, or the makeup on my face. It was what’s on the inside that counts.
You taught me how to ride a bike, took off the trainers even when I thought it was too soon. Taught me to drive a car, and listen to happy tunes.
You would sit and listen through every piano practice, even the notes that were out of tune. Your praises! You clapped and would sing along. My biggest fan!
You were there on the big days, graduation, my wedding day. Even when we adopted our family. You treat the girls just like their your own.
You taught me that words to a song can express so much, life up your spirits, and be your crutch. Poetry comes from the heart you would tell me. But music’s for the soul.
This year I could not buy a gift or take you to a nice dinner. We aren’t allowed to do many worldly things. But know deep down you will always be my dad. Happy Birthday to you and many more to come too.
